1-day and 2-day Workshop offerings featuring Visiting Artists from around the world.


RAKU WORKSHOPS

Join us for a packed day with a community raku, picnic lunch, and festivities out in the lush rolling hills of Occidental, CA (1.5 hrs from San Francisco)!

 

What's included in the Raku Workshop experience?

  • Bring 3 ceramic pieces (about coffee mug sized) or 2 larger forms.
  • Any mid-range clay bodies are welcome.
  • Your pieces must be bisque fired prior to the workshop.
  • Glazes- we'll provide a variety of raku glaze options, including crackles, turquoise & copper glazes, and horse hair techniques.
  • We'll run 5-7 raku firings over the course of the day!
  • 1 homemade yummy lunch will be provided.

*Please note that raku fired pots are not food-safe.

Didem Mert: Triple Threat- Handbuilding

FUN-damentals Workshop (Zoom recording)

 

Join Didem Mert in this recording while she teaches you slab building techniques using multiple colored clay bodies to create a cup set, pinches trinket trays, and coil builds larger vases and serving dishes using what she calls “scrap” clay.

 

What will participants learn?

  • Slab building cups of the same size (sets!)
  • Pinching a large piece of clay to make a symmetrical form
  • Coil building large vessels using “scrap” clay, meaning unwedged/scrap clay from leftover pieces of slabs etc.  
  • Stamping- we will create stamps and sprig molds
